If you happen to drive a lime green Ford Fiesta and live in the Fox Valley, keep your eyes open for our “Admitted Student of the Week” Oshkosh North High School Senior Holly Goodwin. “I wave at anyone driving the same car and same color as mine,” said Holly. Holly, who attends high school in Oshkosh, but lives in Neenah, wasn’t always driving around this part of Wisconsin. Her parents, Steve and Tami, were both in the Coast Guard when Holly was born in Hampton, Virginia on an Air Force base (which happens to be the same place her brother was born seven years earlier). Now her family lives in Neenah, where she has an interesting house set-up. “I live in a chocolate factory. My mom built a commercial kitchen in our basement to start a chocolate making business called The Chocolate Rose,” said Holly. Can we visit sometime Holly?

Currently Holly’s involved in a lot of different activities such as Forensics, the newspaper, Future Business Leaders of America, the Coffeehouse Club (a Creative Writing Club), and the school play. “I’m looking forward to the school play, something I have worked for years toward being able to be in a production,” said Holly. “I’m also looking forward to Rat’s Thorn; it is a joke issue of the school paper based on the Onion. It’s one of the most fun issues we do in the school year, and very relaxed compared to others. It’s a nice way to end the school year.”  Outside of school, Holly is involved in drama, ballet classes, and horseback riding, which is something she hopes to continue at Ripon through our Equestrian Club/Team. Besides looking forward to the new adventures of college, Holly is excited to discover her future career path. “I would like to major in Communications with a minor in Leadership Studies. I do not have a clear career path, but at some point I would like to run for public office, perhaps even on the National stage,” said Holly, “I [also] want to publish a novel.” Famous Author Holly Goodwin runs in 2040 Presidential Election, maybe? Guess we’ll have to wait and see!

Congrats on being our “Admitted Student of the Week” Holly, we’re excited to see you on campus next fall!
